In a time that seems increasingly divisive, we can stitch together a new fabric of connection here. What matters most is our humanity. And what, really, is more human than creating with our hands?
I really loved reading it. Interesting combo of fact and nostalgia. It’s always great when people share those family projects too - it can feel like making is futile sometimes in the face of big stuff but it lasts and it matters.
I've been inspired through my own personal reflection to learn more of my own family's history. Lucky for me, my dad has already written a bunch of those stories down, so I think I should publish them here on Substack. My current idea is to edit them just a bit (not change my dad's language if possible, just reorganize a bit) and then read them out loud. I think if they are told in my voice, that seems somehow fitting.
I'm so glad what I wrote fits in here, and I agree completely: now is the time to dive into our creativity!

That sounds wonderful. Just have my dad’s writing and plan to do something with it eventually.
We are kindred spirits for sure, each with our own domains and interests, but so much interesting parallel and crossover!
(don't forget that Dinkles is bigger on the inside too)
And Kya is a lap dog
They meet in our hearts <3
